About the Light Affection product:
The
Light Affection product combines atmosphere lighting with a new way
to preserve and display a favorite photograph.
There is no actual photograph in the Lamp just an illusion of one
!!
The illusion is created by the carved piece, made of extremely durable
material. Using a technique introduced by the old art form of Lithophanes,
the
varying thickness of the translucent material creates the illusion
of the original image.
The engraved piece is assembled into a simple yet elegant wooden
frame. It comes with a back stand and a light fixture. It includes
an energy efficient light bulb and an electric cord with an On/Off
light switch.
When you get the lamp just plug it in and turn the switch on. Because
of the Energy Efficient Light Bulb it doesn't get warm and can be
kept on Night and day.
About the
photographer, his work and the photo:
The name and reputation of Milton H. Greene as a significant
art photographer of the 20th century is widely known throughout
the world. His reputation keeps company with other famous photographers
of his day close friends and peers such as Richard Avedon, Irving
Penn and Gordon Parks. Milton was someone who was in the limelight
and whose work generated interest and fame in the midst of many
worlds that were connected through the lens of his camera. Miltonšs
photography traced the passage of an era through the world of Hollywood
and fashion. In the years when a Life cover was the highest goal
of every celebrity, Milton set the record with the number of his
portraits that appeared on that much sought after showcase. The
pages of Look, Life, Town and country, Harperšs Bazaar and Vogue
were filled with his classic fashion photographs and unforgettable
portraits of our beloved artists, musicians, film television and
theatrical celebrities, which have become legendary. But it was
his unique friendship, business relationship and ensuing photographs
of Marilyn Monroe for which he is most fondly remembered. It was
Greenešs unique personal friendship and business relationship with
Marilyn Monroe that allowed the extraordinary photographs, recording
her moods, beauty, talent and spirit, for which he is most widely
remembered.
Marilyn in
White Fur, 1955 NYC This extraordinary portrait was done in 1955
at Miltonšs studio before the 2 shareholders announced the formation
of Marilyn Monroe Productions (MMP) at a private cocktail party
in New York City. This picture was restored and published for the
very first time in 1995 and appears on the cover of the 1st edition
of The Archivešs book "Miltonšs Marilyn".
